10 things that make me happy :))

This will be hard...I can only chose 10!

1 - Alyvia Grace, she's more than perfect!
2 - Devon Jasper. Almost 13 years of knowing each other, and I still love seeing him everyday.
3 - My job. I love working with kids. Even though the pay isn't what it needs to be!
4 - Our future. We have so many things to look forward to.
5 - Devon's strive to make a life for us. He is doing so well in the classroom and busting is a** to pay the bills at the same time.
6 - He's the best daddy in the world, too!
7 - Knowing I will be getting married soon! Its been a long road, but I cant wait!
8 - Snuggling with my loves!
9 - Shopping! Especially for Alyvia!
10 - Ameretto Sours...mmmm.

Your turn...

Wedding Plans, and more Wedding plans.

The original venue we had so badly wanted to use for our wedding turned out to be to small so Devon and I have been frantically looking for a place we like just as well. I loved the Elks in Lancaster, but evidently they decided to close....so luckily, Devon and I went to my cousin's wedding back in December and really liked where the reception was held; it has a bar, stage, plenty of room, and round tables (I really, really wanted round tables). They penciled us in for our date and now we have to set up a meeting to sign some papers and put the deposit down. I also booked a DJ. I'm really excited about him, they look and sound awesome, have good reviews and are reasonably priced.

The venue caters the reception, which we didnt want to do orginally, but the food is yummy, and we are running out of options...so we bit our tongues and said we'd give up City BBQ.
I have the vases for my centerpieces, most of the flowers...I just have to get about a handful or 2 more. My cousin thankfully let me borrow some of the decorations she used in her wedding.

I have my save the dates and programs picked out and have been searching for invitations, but I havent found any that have caught my eye. I'm thinking maybe we'll just design them ourselves.

Most of our "dance" music is picked out; our first dance, intro music, mother-son dance, and the garter song.

So, for those who think I've done nothing...I have! It will be planned and turn out great!

FIRST BIRTHDAY PHOTOSHOOT!

On Sunday January 17, Alyvia's 11 month birthday, we had a photoshoot with 2 awesome girls! Dev works with one of their husbands and the firehouse; they both did such a great job and we had SO much fun! All the pictures they took definitely captured Alyvia's personality & beauty!

These are just a few of them; we're gettin the rest this week!

I cant believe she'll be a year old in just a few weeks. Her party is all planned, decorations are so cute, outfit is to die for!, and I know who is making her cake. Aunt Tash made her invites; I found a design I liked online, and she whipped it up on photoshop! We are mailing them out no later than this weekend!

And to be nice, here they are...

Unreal.

It is UNREAL that my princess will be one year old in 5 1/2 weeks...

They dont teach you this stuff in High School. They dont teach you anything about the real world. Parenting, finances, what to do when your furnace goes out, how to house hunt, how to deal with your baby growing up too fast... Its unfair. But I without a doubt enjoy watching her grow and every new stage. It is so fun! I couldn't imagine my life without her.
Milestones: Pulling up on the couch...its not all the time, but she can do it...Saying new words, making new sounds, eating 'people' food, CLAPPING!, getting into everything, dancing like their is music in her head all the time, starting to put herself to sleep instead of havin to snuggle for a half hour (which of course I dont mind!), giving high fives,... the list goes on and on.
I have her party pretty much planned, besides the cake and what foods I wanna have. It'll be the Sunday after, and I cant wait to see her face when she dives into that cake! (but I dont want that day to come too soon!)
Momma loves you Bug!

HAPPY 2010!

After a wonderful Christmas, I had another week off from work (yahoo!) and spent it with Lyvi and watched my friends 2 kids a few days. It was so cute watching all 3 of them playing together! Thursday night, Dev got home early for New Years Eve and we decided to just stay home & watch movies. Two good friends came over to have some drinks and play some cards; overall it was a fun, relaxed night.

Friday we went to my mom's for my most favorite lunch of the year, pork, sourkraut and mashed potatoes! MMM! Then headed to Tash & Josh's for the game. Lyvi was such a good girl, and passed out at 8ish so we decided to stay (a.) because the boys wanted to drink and (b.) the roads were getting bad. Thankfully they allowed us to stay (:

Saturday we were lazy and took down the tree (which makes me very sad), then had dinner at Dev's parents'.

Dev has been gone since 6am today and wont be back til Tuesday evening... Lyvi and I have been lazy all day...she is almost pulling herself up on things, lord help us! Oh and she learned to clap!!!! On New Years Eve she started clapping and it is the cutest thing in the world! She does it constantly now.

I am planning her birthday party (sad face). I cannnnnoooot believe she will be a year old in 6 weeks! She gets more adorable by the minute and is growing up so fast.. it is so much fun to watch her grow tho!

Merry Christmas from our Family to yours!

Shopping is done, gifts are wrapped, house is clean and tree is lit! We are so excited for our first Christmas as a family! Here is the letter we sent to close friends and family...

Happy, Happy Holidays to our Friends and Family! I (Megan) have been anxious to write this letter since last Holiday Season. This happens to be our first annual Holiday letter! This year has been filled with many, many firsts for our family.
Beginning with the most significant month, February 17, 2009 was the day we welcomed our happy, beautiful baby girl, Alyvia Grace! Alyvia is such a good baby (I joke with Devon all the time about how wild our next one will be)! She is now 9 months old and filled with attitude, laughs, energy, and fun! Her smile is one in a million and her heart shines through her big blue eyes. Every day spent with her is such a blessing. She is the best thing that has ever happened to us and we are so thankful to have such a wonderful daughter!
Devon is working a full-time job, going to paramedic school full-time, and also working as a firefighter part-time. He is excelling in the classroom and is thankfully halfway done! In June 2010, he will finally graduate and be able to pursue his dream of being a full-time firefighter. We cherish the time we spend together because he is away from home a lot, but I know he is doing it to support our family and in the end it will be completely worth it! We have an incredible future ahead of us and I am so thankful for that!
After 4 months of staying home with Alyvia, we moved into our own home and I was grateful enough to find a job at a local daycare in August! I started in the toddler room, gained some experience in the preschool room, but my director’s were so pleased with the way I work with infants and toddlers so they permanently moved me to the infant room. And the best part is Alyvia gets to go with me! When Devon graduates, I plan on going back to school to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education, obtain licensing to become a daycare director, start my own daycare facility and eventually get my Master’s degree! It will take time, but again, it will be worth it!
Also in June 2010, Devon and I will finally tie the knot! We have been engaged since October 2008, so you could guess we are very anxious for it to finally happen! The plans are slowly, but surely coming together; and with the help of both sides of our family we will be able to have a beautiful, fun wedding!
It hasn’t been easy, but we always find a way to make it work. We are incredibly blessed with the life we do have and know we have a great future ahead of us. Stay tuned for more updates and stories! We are always thinking of you!

Wishing you a Holiday Season filled with love and laughs,
Devon, Megan and Alyvia

Enjoy your holiday!!

Too Fast...

No more baby bath! She loves the big bath tub. They really do grow too fast...
